Our partnership with the Kinship Community Food Center is helping the community discover the joys of urban farming. Volunteers are invited to get their hands dirty to grow and share food collaboratively to promote health and wellbeing and increase our community’s ownership of their local food system.
The produce is grown on a 27,000 square foot urban hoop house vegetable farm on the grounds of our corporate headquarters on Milwaukee’s North Side. Each year, Kinship and its volunteers harvest thousands of pounds of organic produce to feed families in our neighborhoods, host educational events, and share community meals.
Maglio Companies’ employees also participate in the annual Farm Factory Fork High school career discovery. The event exposes high school students to careers in the food industry and ensures a pipeline of talent for the food and beverage industry as the world prepares to double our food production by the year 2050 to feed a global population of 9.7 billion people.
